W16 Report posted
Area Governor Robyn Richards
Area W16 covers the south eastern suburbs from South Lake to Kenwick.
I am proud to be supporting Successful, Southsiders, Canning Vale and Foothills Clubs this year.
What a remarkable start to the Toastmasters year Area W16 has had.
With all clubs submitting their Club Officer Lists in on time and sending at least 4 Officers to COT, we could not ask for a healthier opening to the year.
Member Awards to Date
Already our clubs have enthusiastically embraced the DCP by submitting plenty of member awards. As I write this report we have had 6 CC awards, 2 ACB awards, 2 CL awards, 1 ALS and 1 DTM submitted. Congratulations to these members and their clubs.
Club Speech Contests
Dates have been set for all club Table Topics and Humorous Speech Contests and I know all the contestants are preparing diligently. I am looking forward to witnessing all of these contests. The dates are as follows;
- Successful Monday August 10th
- Foothills Monday August 17th
- Southsiders Tuesday August 18th
- Canning Vale Tuesday August 25th
I would like to thank all those members who have volunteered their time to attend other Club Contests as Judges. It truly is awe-inspiring to see these generous actions. If you would like to volunteer as a Judge and haven’t done so already, please advise me ASAP.
Area Final
Our Area Final will be hosted by Canning Vale and will be held on Tuesday September 8th beginning at 6.30pm.
Winners from this contest will go on to represent Area W16 in the Western Division Final which will be held in early November.
Area Governor Visits
As well as attending Club Speech Contests, I am looking forward to visiting your club on the date below.
- Southsiders – September 1st
- Foothills – September 21st
- Successful – October 5th
- Canning Vale – Visit already done
New Club Update
To achieve President’s Distinguished Area we need to have a new club chartered by June 30, 2010. We are working very hard to make this happen with the help of some very dedicated Toastmasters. If you know of a community or corporation in our area where a Toastmasters club would be beneficial, please contact me or David Nicholas, our WA New Clubs Coordinator, so we can all work together on this project..
Area Council Meeting
Recently we held our first Area Council Meeting and I was impressed by the enthusiasm of all 12 attendees who were all keen to bring all clubs in our area closer together to help, support and encourage each other. We had a fruitful meeting where we discussed our goals for the year ahead as well as how we can hold more beneficial Club Officer Training in the future.
Our next Area Council meeting will be held on Saturday October 31st and all Club Officers are invited to attend.
Area Function
It has been suggested that we hold a combined Area Function early in the New Year. This would be a fun social night for all members of all clubs in the Area. If you would like to know more, ask your Club President. All Club Presidents were asked to take this suggestion back to their club for consideration with further discussion to take place at our next Area Council meeting.
A Final Word (for now)
If the first few weeks if this Toastmasters year are anything to go by, I feel sure we will have an amazing year. I look forward to meeting you at your club soon and helping you achieve your Toastmasters goals for this year.
