I44 Report posted
Area Governor Ian Pickens
Inner City 44 is a new Area this year
Area Governor Ian Pickens enthusiastically welcomes the foundation clubs
- City of Perth
WA Governors
Electric Toasters
East Perth
All clubs have registered their officer list on time, and 4 club officers at training for the first round of COT, set us up for an exciting and rewarding year. President Distinguished Area is very achievable and the goal set for this dynamic group of cubs to aim for.
COT is a great way to meet the teams and this year welcome East Perth committee into the world of Toastmasters after only being chartered 4 weeks earlier. .It was fabulous to have 4 officers from each club at Subiaco training.
Contests
The first round of contests, (Humorous and Table topics) are about to begin with an exciting year expected. City of Perth have already allocated Monday 17 August as their contest night and all other clubs are considering their dates prior to the Area Contest which will be held 29 October 2009.
The wealth of talent in the WA Governors club, the strength and consistency of City of Perth, the youthful excitement of Electric Toasters, and the breadth of educational talent at East Perth indicates contests will be expertly contested. I 44 Area contest will be a great night and one to ensure you attend. Do not be surprised to see many of these contestants progress to the District finals.
Contest Judges
I have suggested Presidents collate a list of experienced and potential judges from their club. The list will help a great deal when requested to suggest a judge form their club.
At club level the Contest Chair invite a Chief Judge from another I 44 club, plus one independent judge from another club. The remainder of judges are club members.
At Area level contests each Inner City Area supply two judges for each of the other Areas.
District Convention
All winners at club level compete again at Area level then at Division level. Winning at Division sets you up for the District competition.
Except for the International contest this is the highest level of competition and is well within the grasp of every competitor no matter how little experience they have at TM.
Now is the time to consider attending, start planning, saving, and nominating for the District Convention in May 2010. Convention is a tremendous experience of networking and learning. All you need to know can be found on the D73 website.
As an area we are in great shape for an excellent year.
